Newland supplied the audio visuals for the Turner Prize nominated artist Mark Wallinger at the Laing Art in Newcastle.
Turner Prize nominated artist Mark Wallinger’s commission The Underworld. A video installation based on a 1982 BBC TV recording of Verdi’s Requiem conducted by Claudio Abbado. The Underworld re-stages the performance, simultaneously showing each of the individual movements on 21 upside down television sets. The result is a loud circle of hell – repetitive sound and images - that leave you feeling slightly dizzy.
